Temperature Records Broken On Tuesday, But Rain Is Coming
Temperatures in Western Washington got as high as 80 on Tuesday. Enjoy it while it lasts.

SEATAC, WA - The thermometer at Sea-Tac Airport hit 72 degrees on Tuesday, a record high at that location for Oct. 16. Enjoy the relative heat while it lasts, because cool, rainy weather is set to return soon.
First, the records: temperatures in Sea-Tac, Bellingham (71), and Quillayute (80) all broke records Tuesday. In the Seattle area, there have only been five days warmer than today this late in the season since 1945, according to the National Weather Service.
Numerous broken or tied record highs today across the area: Sea-Tac: 72° (old record of 70° in 2002 & 1974) Bellingham: 71° (tied in 2015) Quillayute: 80° (old record of 70° in 1972) This is now the latest 80° day in the calendar year on record for Quillayute. #WAwx

Second, the rain: NWS released some longer term forecasts today. Over the next eight to 14 days, there's a 50 percent chance rain totals will be higher than normal. Rain could return as soon as Tuesday, according to the NWS.
