BREMERTON, WA - A Bremerton woman fought off a carjacker Wednesday to save her 2-year-old - and she did it while being punched in the face, and while her truck was in motion.
In a video released by Bremerton police Thursday, the mother can be seen approaching the truck as the carjacker gets into the cab. When she sees him, she runs straight for him and jumps into the cab. The carjacker steps on the gas and tries to drive away, all while the woman is fighting him.
The struggle lasts only a few seconds, ending when the robber hops out of the cab and runs away.

According to police, the 24-year-old carjacker tried to steal a second car nearby, but failed. He then jumped into the bed of a truck stopped at a red light. When police approached the truck, he fled into a nearby home.
"The occupants ordered the suspect out of the house. While inside, the suspect continued to walk toward the occupants with a gold key in his hand. The suspect only left the house when he heard sirens in the area," Bremerton police described in a press release. "A short distance later, the suspect slipped and fell to the ground and was taken into custody."

Police believe the carjacker may have been on drugs. He was treated at Harrison Medical Center before being taken to jail on charges of attempted vehicle theft and robbery.
