Widespread Rainfall Prompts Flood Watch In Several Counties
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch in six Washington counties.

UPDATE: Flood warnings were issued for several rivers Tuesday morning, including Snoqualmie River where major flooding is expected.
SEATTLE, WA — Widespread rainfall Monday night, and into Tuesday morning, has activated a flood watch for Whatcom, Clallam, Jefferson, Snohomish, King and Mason counties. According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest overnight rains will be concentrated along the western slopes of the Olympics and in the Cascades, which will lead to a significant rise in river levels in many areas. Overall flooding impact is expected to be minor.

Due to the rain shadow, projections for the metro areas are much lower. Seattle is forecasted to get up to a half-inch of rain overnight, with Tacoma and Everett seeing up to an inch. Some areas along the central Cascades may see four to five inches of precipitation. NWS forecasters expect rain will start to taper off through Tuesday morning with dry conditions returning to the region on Wednesday.
