Woman, 37, Dies In Fiery Labor Day Crash Near Olympia

OLYMPIA, WA — A 37-year-old woman died on Labor Day afternoon after the pickup truck she was riding in with her family crashed along Highway 101, according to state troopers.

The crash happened around 2 p.m. Monday when David Dobson, 37, of Shelton, lost control of his pickup truck, which was hauling a travel trailer. The truck left the highway on the right side, crashed into trees, and then burst into flames.

Jamie Dobson, 37, of Shelton died at the scene. A 10-year-old and an 8-year-old traveling in the truck were hurt and taken to St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia.

The cause of the incident was still under investigation on Monday night. The crash blocked northbound Highway 101 for more than five hours on Labor Day, according to state police.
