1. Asotin County lifts burn ban; yard waste burning still prohibited (elkhornmediagroup.com) — Asotin County residents can once again have recreational campfires starting Thursday, as commissioners have lifted the countywide burn ban in step with the state. Yard waste burning remains off-limits until Oct. 15, and officials urge everyone to keep water handy, watch the wind, and stay cautious because wildfire risk is still elevated despite cooler weather.

2. Deal Digest: Salt Air Broadcasting Expands On The Cape. (insideradio.com) — A local Asotin sports radio signal, KCLK 1430 AM and its 107.3 FM translator, has been sold to Salt & Light Radio for $35,000, shifting it toward religious ownership. The deal is part of a broader wave of station sales nationwide, while the seller, Daily Fly Media, keeps several other music and talk stations serving the region.

3. WDFW kills second wolf in Couse pack in southeast Washington (capitalpress.com) — Wildlife officials have killed a second wolf from the Couse pack in Asotin County after repeated cattle attacks, and will now pause further action to see if depredations stop. 4. Fish and Wildlife Commission to meet Friday (spokesman.com) — State wildlife officials have killed another wolf from the Couse pack in Asotin County after multiple cattle attacks, and they may take further action if livestock losses continue. The same agency’s Fish and Wildlife Commission meets virtually Friday to discuss invasive mussels, fishing access, and rule changes, while Spokane Audubon plans an Oct. 14 talk on bird-friendly coffee.
