2 Men Shot In Bellevue, Then Drive-By Hits Downtown Home

BELLEVUE, WA — A weekend shooting at a Bellevue park left two men wounded, the latest in a series of shootings that have happened in the Crossroads area since January.

According to police, the two victims showed up at an area hospital around 12:15 a.m. Sunday. Both of the men had "serious bodily injury" to their lower legs. The men told police they were shot by an unknown person after a disturbance at Crossroads Park along Northeast 8th Street.

About 90 minutes after that incident, a Bellevue resident living along the 100 block of 109th Ave Southeast called to report that someone opened fire on his house. Bellevue police responded and confirmed that the house had been hit by bullets.

There have been at least six other shootings in the Crossroads area since January, according to police. There was also a murder in April at Goldsmith Park, which is north of the Crossroads area across SR 520.

Bellevue Chief Steve Mylett has said the recent violence in the Crossroads area has "strong links" to gang activity.

Both weekend shootings are still under investigation, police said.

June 19

Drugs, 15400 block of Southeast 42nd Street
Officers responded to a suspicious incident at a residence after a landlord reported a suspected cannabis grow farm inside. Officers conducted a preliminary search of the residence and discovered several dozen cannabis plants and packaged cannabis inside the home. Narcotics detectives were advised and are investigating.

Hit and Run, Coal Creek Parkway and Forest Drive Southeast
The suspect hit a vehicle on Coal Creek Parkway, sending that vehicle into two more vehicles. The suspect then fled northbound Coal Creek Parkway. A witness followed the suspect and called 911. Officers arrived and took the suspect into custody without incident. The suspect was not under the influence and arrested and booked into jail.

June 21

Burglary, 5100 block of Lakemont Boulevard Southeast
Multiple officers responded to a glass break alarm. A suspect had forced entry through the front door. He stole items and fled. After the initial officer response, a traffic stop was conducted by an officer after he noticed a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle and occupants were eventually released from the stop. Detectives were notified.

June 23

Unwanted Subject, 300 block of 108th Ave Northeast
A subjected entered a building and followed two employees in an elevator. The subject was holding some unknown metallic object in his hand while speaking incoherently while he rode the elevator to the 18th floor. The subject did not exit the elevator but went down to the lobby area where he contacted a janitor. The subject threatened the janitor. Security was notified police. The subject was not located at the building or in the area.
