2 Washington Whole Foods Locations Hit By Credit Data Breach

Customers who paid at Whole Foods taprooms or restaurants may be affected by the data breach, the company is reporting.

BELLEVUE, WA - The Whole Foods company is reporting that two of its locations in Washington state have been affected by a point-of-sale credit card data breach. Customers who paid at the Bellevue and Bellingham locations may be affected by the breach.

The breach only affects point-of-sale terminals at Whole Foods' taprooms and restaurants. In Bellevue, that includes the Fresh Eats Venue, and in Bellingham that includes the Far North pizza and beer restaurant.

Whole Foods reported on Sept. 28 that hackers had gained access to credit card data at only taprooms and restaurants. The company's regular cash registers were apparently not affected.

"When Whole Foods Market learned of this, the company launched an investigation, obtained the help of a leading cyber security forensics firm, contacted law enforcement, and is taking appropriate measures to address the issue," the company said last week.

Whole Foods says it is still investigating the breach and urged customers to monitor credit card statements for unauthorized charges.
