5 Essential Dance Moves: Get Ready to do the Monster Mash!

5 Essential Dance Moves
With the "Monster Mash: Family Friendly Costume Dance" coming up October 27th, I thought I would walk you through a short list of 5 Essential Dance moves for those who are less inclined to break it down on the dance floor.
1.  The Syncopated Shuffle: OK, this one is easy... if you can't do anything else, move your feet side to side in time with the music.  Advanced move- Clap your hands with the beat as well (like a Gospel choir singer).  If you are not yet ready for the advanced move, hold your hands and elbow at a 90 degree angle as if you were snapping.

2.  Electric Slide:  Every time the Electric Slide comes on, I try to stand next to a few people who know what they are doing.  After about 30 seconds, you can pretty well copy it and act like you know what you are doing!

3.  Gangam Style:  Spread your legs, put your hand above your head, and go back to your childhood to imagine you are riding a horse like a cowboy.  You may feel like an idiot, but once you start it will be like you have just used a secret password to get into a club for cool people under the age of 25! Welcome to the club!

4.  The Sprinkler:  You know you can't dance, and so does everybody else, so have fun with it and start acting like a human sprinkler!  Put one hand behind your head and the other in front and move your arms toward each other in time while slowly twisting your hips.

5.  The Thriller Dance:  Perhaps the greatest music video dance of all time.  You can spend hours learning the moves on youtube, or, you can gather around the group that does and clap your hand and cheer for everyone else.

Whether you dance or tap your feet near the snack table, we hope you and your family will have a fantastic time at the Monster Mash!  Don't forget to bring a camera!!
