Bellevue, WA, Tower Set to Become Tallest Mass Timber Office Building in US (getfea.com) — A 12-story mass timber office project called Bevel Tower is planned for Bellevue and is expected to become the tallest mass timber office building in the U.S. Designed by Waugh Thistleton Architects and Mithun for Skanska, it would bring a high-profile, sustainability-focused workplace to downtown, using a concrete base with a timber structure and steel seismic core.
2. Nikola Tesla STEM High near Redmond in Top 10 in U.S. News ranking (seattletimes.com) — Bellevue's International School just ranked 41st in the nation, making it Washington's second-highest public high school in the latest U.S. News & World Report list. The rankings highlight strong test scores, graduation rates, and college readiness, with other top Washington schools in Redmond, Tukwila, Seattle, and Mercer Island also recognized.
3. Man who called himself 'King Bentley' sentenced for multi-state sex trafficking scheme (koin.com) — A retired Bellevue police officer working security helped uncover a multi-state sex trafficking operation that used a Bellevue luxury apartment building and funded high-end rentals in Bellevue and Seattle. A California man has now been sentenced to more than 17 years in federal prison for coercing vulnerable women into prostitution across several states, with an appeal already filed.
4. King County Transit Facilities Specialist II (Transit Custodian II) in Seattle, WA (seattletimes.com) — King County Metro is hiring Transit Facilities Specialist II custodians, and some positions may be based at transit facilities in or near Bellevue as part of the broader service area. The full-time roles offer union pay, strong benefits, and varied shifts, with applications open through August 31, 2026 for candidates with industrial cleaning experience.
