Today's riddle: What do an island and the letter "t" have in common? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Major I-405 closure, SR 520 lane restrictions this weekend (kiro7.com) — Northbound I-405 will be fully closed between Renton and Bellevue from late Friday night through early Monday morning, forcing Bellevue drivers onto signed detours via SR 900, Duvall Avenue, and Coal Creek Parkway. Expect heavy congestion around Coal Creek, where lanes are already reduced, and additional delays on SR 520 in Redmond as lane closures there further complicate weekend travel plans.
2. Man arrested for allegedly trying to light Bellevue Planned Parenthood on fire (kiro7.com) — Bellevue police arrested a 36-year-old man who allegedly vandalized and tried to start a fire at the Planned Parenthood clinic on NE 8th Street, causing minor damage. Investigators say he acted alone, was motivated by personal beliefs, and had planned the act for several days, but they do not believe there is an ongoing broader threat to the public.
3. They Spent $50 Million Creating Their Own Four Seasons. Now It's For Sale. (mansionglobal.com subscription) — A sprawling Hunt's Point compound on Lake Washington, described as a private "Four Seasons resort," is on the market for $71 million, potentially setting a Pacific Northwest price record. Built and expanded over nearly two decades by longtime Bellevue-area residents Dwayne and Terese Clark, the two-home estate features a piazza, wellness retreat amenities, and extensive entertaining spaces inspired by Italy.
4. Six Indian American students named 2026 Davidson Fellows (americanbazaaronline.com) — A Bellevue student, 18-year-old Aditya Sengupta, has earned the top $100,000 Davidson Fellow Laureate scholarship for creating a machine-learning system to better predict clear air turbulence. His work, developed while living in Bellevue, significantly improves on current aviation forecasting methods and showcases how local students are contributing to global safety challenges.
