📰 News we're reading

• Bellevue arson suspect charged, accused of setting Planned Parenthood clinic on fire (kiro7.com) — An arson suspect is being held on $1 million bail after allegedly trying to set fire to the Planned Parenthood clinic on NE 8th Street in Bellevue, with firefighters quickly containing the damage. Police say the man described religious motives and remains in custody pending an Oct. 8 court date. Residents may notice heightened concern around the clinic and ongoing legal proceedings in King County.

• 22 new restaurants nearby: Eastside, South and North End debuts (seattletimes.com) — Downtown Bellevue is seeing a wave of new dining options, led by Seoul-based Goban Korean BBQ's American debut and dessert spot Makkee opening on Main Street. More hot pot chains like KPOT and Shoo Loong Kan are also planning Bellevue locations, while nearby Eastside cities add tacos, smashburgers, and cafes. It's a good moment to explore fresh restaurant choices close to home.

• Sound Transit CEO claims his $30K bonus and wins a pay raise (seattletimes.com) — Bellevue riders now benefit from a new light rail connection across Lake Washington to Seattle, part of Sound Transit's expanding 58-mile network. As the system posts record ridership, the board has rewarded CEO Dow Constantine with a raise and bonus tied partly to the cross-lake line's successful launch.
