Armed Robbers Flee Bellevue Police, Crash In Redmond

The chase happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday after a robbery at Crossroads Park.

BELLEVUE, WA - Bellevue and Kirkland police chased down two suspects late Tuesday after an armed robbery at Crossroads Park. The chase ended when the suspects crashed in Redmond after police deployed spike strips.

The incident began around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when a person called police to report he had been robbed at gunpoint in the Crossroads Park parking lot.

Near the scene of the robbery, a Bellevue officer saw the two suspects driving recklessly. The officer pursued the two suspects, and was later joined by other officers. The officers chased to suspects through Bellevue, Kirkland, and Redmond.

Officers deployed spike strips near the intersection of 140th Avenue Northeast and Bel-Red Road. Although the suspects lost their tires running over the spikes, they continued on, heading east on SR 520.

A Washington State Patrol officer used his car to finally stop the chase along Avondale Road. The prime suspect in the robbery and chase is a 23-year-old man. Police did not immediately recover the gun used in the Crossroads Park robbery, but were pursuing a search warrant for the suspect's car.

The department will review the pursuit to ensure that the Bellevue officers followed appropriate procedures.
