String Of Crimes Across Bellevue Ends In Chase

A car stolen from Snohomish was found torched in Bellevue early Friday. That was just the beginning.

BELLEVUE, WA - Bellevue police arrested two men Friday morning who allegedly carried out a series of crimes, beginning with a car theft in Snohomish.

Just before 5 a.m. Friday, an Issaquah resident called police to report that a car had damaged her garage. She caught the vehicle on surveillance camera, which gave police a description of the suspects.

About an hour later, police responded to a car fire at a building along the 3300 block of 161st Avenue Southeast. A guard at the building told police that two men lit the car on fire. When the guard confronted them, one of the men threatened him with a hammer.

An hour after that, police responded to a burglary at a condominium complex along the 3300 block of 161st Court Southeast. A woman there called 911 to report that a man tried to force his way into her condo, demanding she hand over her car keys.

The woman escaped to her neighbor's home, and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Around 8:30 a.m., police found one of the suspects, a 30-year-old from Tukwila, near the intersection of Southeast Eastgate Way and SE 35th Place. At 9:30 a.m., residents living along West Lake Sammamish Parkway began calling 911 to report a man running through their yards.

A Bellevue officer caught up to the suspect along the 1800 block of West Lake Sammamish Parkway. The suspect, a 25-year-old from Seattle, was taken into custody.
