Abhinay Fine Arts and Vedic Education and Development Academy (VEDA) presents Kshetram or Temple.  Thematic portrayal of the heritage of legendary temple cities of India weaving together ancient poetry, classical music and dance elements. A home-grown collaborative production created by Laksmi Sanjay and Sanjay Subramanian, this production represents three major classical dance forms of South India - Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohiniattam, to create a lyrical and visually appealing performance. Curious Max: Family and Educator Day at the Frye Art Museum

The Frye Art Museum is celebrating the start of the school year with Curious Max: Family and Educator Day. Visitors will be immersed in the world of Munich painter Gabriel von Max while they can enjoy activities for all ages and learn about Pre-K–12 educational programs. Parents and educators can enjoy a special hands-on art activity and a receive lesson plan.

Highlights include gallery Tours and art activities including sock monkey making and origami butterflies; Storytelling: Caps for Saleby Seattle Children’s Theatre at 11:15 a.m.; A special performance at noon by Recess Monkey (Auditorium seating is first-come, first served. Space is extremely limited. The performance will be audio simulcast in the Museum Café and Art Studio.); and a screening of the movie Curious George (86 min) at 1:30 p.m

Join this informal discussion! Meet Eastside artist Cheryll Leo-Gwin as she presents her newest series of paintings and prints. Based on a century of history in China and America, this body of work focuses on issues and events surrounding women and families in both countries. Her use of narrative, vivacious color and luscious imagery are superimposed over underlying stories bearing witness to human responses in relation to context of time and place. Sponsored in part by the City of Bellevue Arts Program, the work will be installed within the Bel/Red corridor of Bellevue, an area identified as a future arts district.
