Bellevue Firefighters Close To Fundraising Goal For Stair Climb

The annual firefighter climb to the top of the Columbia Center is coming up. Bellevue firefighters are raising money now.

BELLEVUE, WA - The annual firefighter stair climb up the Columbia Center building in Seattle is coming up in early March, but Bellevue firefighters are already fundraising for the event.

The annual stair climb attracts thousands of firefighters who ascend the 69-story Columbia Center in full gear while wearing oxygen masks. It's a test of endurance and a fundraiser for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Bellevue firefighters set a goal of raising $25,000 for the climb, and as of Wednesday had already raised about $24,000. On Saturday, Bellevue firefighters in full gear climbed stair-master machines at the Nordstrom Bellevue Square. They raised about $6,000 during that event alone.
