Bellevue Man, 88, Seriously Hurt In Collision

The man was walking at dusk when he was hit by a car driven by an 18-year-old.

BELLEVUE, WA - An 88-year-old Bellevue man was taken to Harborview Medical Center Wednesday night after he was hit by a car and seriously injured. It was dusk at the time of the crash, prompting Bellevue police to remind drivers to be mindful in the darker winter months.

The collision happened just before 5 p.m. along Somerset Boulevard near Southeast 43rd Street. The man was walking in the street when he was hit by a car driven by an 18-year-old. The street had traffic-calming measures, including speed bumps.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

"With the sun setting earlier during the winter months, Bellevue police remind motorists to be aware that pedestrians may be on residential roadways after dark," the department wrote on its blog.
