BELLEVUE, WA — A 66-year-old Bellevue man has died after being hit by a pickup truck while crossing the street on Monday, the city announced Thursday. Police said the truck's driver stayed at the scene and immediately called for help. Officers are still investigating the incident. In a news release, the city said Monday's collision was the eighth deadly crash in Bellevue over the past 14 months and the city's third since January.
"I'm so sorry for this terrible loss of life and for the pain his family must be experiencing," said Andrew Singelakis, Bellevue's transportation director. "Through our Vision Zero program we aspire to eliminate fatal and serious injury crashes on Bellevue streets. This latest death is a reminder that we have much work left to do."
