Bellevue Mother And Son Killed By Fallen Tree Identified

BELLEVUE, WA — King County officials have released the names of the two people killed by a fallen tree while driving near Preston during Sunday's storm. The King County Medical Examiner's Office on Tuesday formally identified the victims as Camille Martlin, 59, and her son Max Martlin, 22, both of Bellevue.

According to The Seattle Times, Camille worked as an aesthetician at a Bellevue spa and owned "Essential Kneads Skin & Body Clinic." Her son Max was a graduate of Interlake High School and pursuing a degree at Bellevue College.

The newspaper said the pair were returning from a trip to pick up pumpkins in Preston when a large tree fell across Preston-Fall City Road Southeast, just north of Interstate 90.

Eastside Fire & Rescue crews arrived at the crash site Sunday afternoon and quickly turned the scene over to the King County Sheriff's Office for a full investigation. A spokesman for the sheriff's office described the tragic crash to the Times as "a collision of inches" and "truly a freak incident."

In a social media post Monday afternoon, Max Martlin's girlfriend remembered both him and his mother as "a huge light in my life," and asked friends and family to share their memories. Funeral plans will be shared at a later date, she said.
