Bellevue Officer Placed On Leave Over Social Media Posts

It's unclear exactly what the posts said, but police say they are investigating if the officer violated their social media policies.

BELLEVUE, WA — A Bellevue police officer has been placed on leave after someone raised the alarm over posts the officer had made on social media.

The Bellevue Police Department says they received a complaint Tuesday that one of their officers may have violated their social media policy. It's unclear exactly what the posts said, or if they were related to the recent mass protests over police accountability or not.

After receiving the complaint police say they looked into the posts and determined there was cause to open an investigation. The police department says Chief Mylett has called for an independent outside investigation in order to ensure the findings are completely transparent. For the remainder of the investigation, the officer in question has been placed on leave.
