Bellevue Police Chief Rape Accuser Skips Arraignment

Idunn Schneider, 45, of Issaquah, is facing charges related to her rape accusation against Bellevue Chief Steve Mylett.

BELLEVUE, WA - The woman who accused Bellevue police Chief Steve Mylett of rape skipped her arraignment on Monday, and a King County judge has issued an arrest warrant for her.

Idunn Schneider, 45, of Issaquah, in August told Bothell police investigators that Mylett raped her in that city in late 2016. A Bothell police investigation found that Schneider allegedly fabricated evidence to support her accusation.

Mylett was placed on paid administrative leave following the accusation. He didn't return to the job until Bothell police concluded its investigation at the end of October. Bothell investigators recommended that Schneider be charged with perjury, tampering with evidence, and making false statements.

The warrant issued Monday orders she be held in jail on $10,050 bail.

But it's unclear if police will find her. According to KING 5, court filings in Schneider's divorce proceedings indicate that she may be now living in Norway.
