Armed Suspect Hidden In Bellevue Home Detained
The suspect is part of a group of people who participated in a purse theft at the Bellevue Square Mall, police are reporting.

BELLEVUE, WA - Bellevue police on Monday afternoon were trying to get a possibly armed suspect to come out of a home in the Newport Hills neighborhood. Police said the suspect was hiding in an attic of a home along the 7100 block of 122nd Avenue Southeast. The residents of the home had been evacuated, and the SWAT team was en route to the home.
Around 6:15 p.m., Bellevue police said the suspect had been detained.
The incident began around 3 p.m. Monday with a purse snatching at the Bellevue Square Mall. Four suspects fled the mall in a car, which they later ditched near 120th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 60th Street. Police caught some of the suspects near the car, but one was located in the backyard of a home nearby.

The final suspect fled into the home. The police response spurred the lockdown of Ringdall and Tillicum middle schools, but police do not believe any other suspects are at-large.
