BELLEVUE, WA - The FBI on Monday released preliminary data from its annual crime report. The data included a comparison of certain crimes over the first six months of 2017 compared to the same period in 2018.

In Bellevue, the FBI data shows a slight uptick in violent crime during that period. But at the same time, there was a drop in property crimes.

Violent crimes rose about 21 percent between January and June 2017 and the same period in 2018. Robbery and aggravated assault increased while rape decreased by one incident, according to FBI stats.

A 1 percent drop in property crime came due to a drop in burglaries. But theft and vehicle theft rose during that time.

The FBI's preliminary Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) data released Monday showed a nationwide drop in both violent and property crimes. The full UCR for all of 2018 will be released later this year.
