Bellevue Teen Dead In Suspected DUI Crash
The 19-year-old died after his car hit a tree Saturday night in the Crossroads area.

BELLEVUE, WA - Bellevue police reported Monday morning that a 19-year-old Bellevue man died in a suspected DUI crash over the weekend. The crash happened Saturday night in the Crossroads neighborhood.
According to police, the man was driving along 148th Avenue Northeast near Northeast 8th Street around 9 p.m. Saturday when he lost control of his 2010 Mazda and crashed into two trees alongside the road. The force of the crash caused the car's engine to separate from the vehicle, police reported.
The 19-year-old was found at the scene "partially ejected" from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Investigators believe that the vehicle had been traveling at a high rate of speed on the wet roadway prior to the crash. Police believe the driver lost control, and then struck a tree on the side of the roadway, causing the engine to separate from the front of the vehicle. Based on evidence located at the scene, Officers believe that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash," Bellevue police wrote in a blog post about the crash.
Police have identified the man as a Bellevue resident but the King County Medical Examiner as of 9:30 a.m. Monday had not released his name.
