Bellevue Woman Hides Under Sheets As Burglars Ransack Her Bedroom

The woman heard the burglars enter her home and was able to call 911 before the burglars entered her bedroom.

BELLEVUE, WA - As two burglars rifled through her dresser drawer, a Bellevue woman was hiding under her bed sheets on the phone with 911 - and they never noticed she was there. The woman was sleeping at 8 a.m. Thursday when the two men entered her home along the 4000 block of 149th Avenue Southeast. She was able to grab her phone and dial 911 while the men were in the next room.

When police arrived, the burglars ran out the back door of the home. A short time later, a Bellevue motorcycle officer spotted the suspects along Southeast 36th Street. The officer was able to detain one of the men, but the other one ran off and tried to hijack the car of a passerby. The car doors were locked, and the suspect was caught after a short foot chase.

The suspects, a Renton man, 21, and a Burien man, 25, were taken to jail on suspicion of burglary and obstruction, according to Bellevue police.
