In Bellevue, Woman Stabs Elderly Couple, Tries To Start Fires

The woman had been staying at the couple's home recently. The violence broke out on Saturday night.

BELLEVUE, WA - An elderly man and woman were stabbed in their home Saturday night by a woman who had been staying with them, according to Bellevue police.

The incident happened around 5 p.m. at a home along the 16200 block of Southeast 31st Street. The 76-year-old victim was able to get to a neighbor's home to call 911. Her husband, an 83-year-old, stayed inside the home.

When police arrived, they found the 4o-year-old suspect and took her into custody.

"Investigators learned that the suspect, who was not related to the homeowners, had been staying at the victim’s residence for the past few weeks. Today, the suspect violently attacked the two victims inside the residence with a large knife, and then attempted to set several fires within the residence," Bellevue police wrote in a description of the incident.

Police have not clarified the suspect's relationship with the couple. Spokesman officer Seth Tyler told media outlets that more information about the incident would likely come out on Monday.
