Betsy DeVos Protest: Bellevue To Close Local Street Friday
The Equity in Education Coalition is planning a large demonstration of DeVos outside the Hyatt-Regency Bellevue on Friday.

BELLEVUE, WA - Expecting a sizable protest of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, the city of Bellevue will close a portion of Bellevue Way Northeast during rush hour Friday. DeVos is the keynote speaker at the Washington Policy Center's annual dinner at the Hyatt-Regency Bellevue.
The closure will affect the portion Bellevue Way between Northeast 8th Street to Northeast 10th Street. The closure begins at 4 p.m. and ends around 8:30 p.m. The Washington Policy Center's dinner begins at 6 p.m. and ends around 9:30 p.m., although there is an after-party planned.
The group Equity in Education Coalition is organizing the demonstration. According to the group's Facebook page, about 800 people had signed up to attend the protest, but another 4,000 indicated they are interested in attending.
