ADVISORY: Congressman Adam Smith to Host 9th District Day

 

Washington D.C. – Every year, Congressman Adam Smith hosts Ninth District Day, an event that brings together Washington state constituents, policy experts, and media leaders in Washington D.C.   The objective of the event is to inform constituents and members of Washington state’s 9th Congressional District on issues ranging from foreign policy and the budget, to other domestic priorities and this year’s congressional agenda.  The speakers will provide attendees with an opportunity to gain insight into how the government works.  This year, confirmed speakers include:

 

Washington Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell

Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi

David Gregory, Meet the Press moderator

Buck McKeon, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee

Winnie Satchelberg, Executive Vice President of External Affairs, Center for American Progress

Ellen McClain, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Trans-border Affairs, Department of Homeland Security

 

This bipartisan group of speakers will provide valuable insights and perspectives as to how the federal government operates.  Each speaker will talk for 10 to 15 minutes, and followed by a 5 to 10 minute question and answer session.
