BTI Talk: Leadership Effectiveness Training feat. Tom Heine

The month of July is all about Leadership here at Bellevue College Continuing Education. In recognition of the theme we will be continuing our popular Thought Leadership series with our newest featured speaker, Tom Heine, who will present on Leadership Effectiveness Training (LET). LET is a program that was developed by Dr. Thomas Gordon for organizations wanting to improve productivity, reduce waste, and create a more cooperative work environment; and Tom should know! He has over 40 years of experience in Operations and HR roles – the last of which were 15 years at Esterline, where he led the leader development and OD functions for the corporation until being promoted to corporate HR Vice President in early 2012.

I’m a big believer in the LET program. For those who don’t know, LET is based on the premise that it takes more than technical and business acumen to make an organization work. The ability to communicate and deal with conflict effectively is equally, if not, more important. But unfortunately, we are not born with the skills to be effective leaders and communicators. LET teaches a concrete, actionable set of tools and skills that reduce conflict in the workplace, increase time on task, and measurably reduce the costs of people problems.

Tom’s presentation is not one to be missed! He’ll be sharing his experience in implementing the LET program at Esterline and talking about its impact on their organization.
