Bullet Fired By Neighbor Narrowly Misses Bellevue Man: Police

He was sitting at a desk in his apartment when a bullet suddenly whizzed by his head, according to police.

BELLEVUE, WA - If you're still undecided about I-1639, the gun control initiative, maybe this story will influence your vote. A man sitting in his Bellevue apartment on Sunday almost shot by his neighbor by accident.

The neighbor, according to police, was "dry firing" his handgun when he decided to put a round in the chamber. When he pulled the trigger, of course, the gun fired, piercing his apartment wall and into the neighboring unit.

"It struck a cloth lamp cover which was against the wall, then passed the resident of that apartment, who was sitting at a desk just inches from the bullet’s trajectory. It then hit a cutting board that was propped up on a metal shelf, going through it and then though the glass backsplash of the kitchen and into the wall separating that unit from the neighboring one," Bellevue police described of the incident, which happened at a building along the 10600 block of Northeast 2nd Street.
