Burglar Caught Wearing Felix Hernandez Watch Arrested In Bellevue
Shon Shanell, 32, was identified by police as a member of the Rock Smash Burglary crew, which targeted wealthy Eastside residents.

BELLEVUE, WA — A man arrested in 2017 as part of the Rock Smash burglary crew was caught recently burglarizing a Bellevue home, according to police.
Shon Shanell, 32, was arrested at the end of July after he broke into a Bellevue home and stole cash and a Spanish classical guitar, police say. When police searched Shanell's home, they found the stolen goods — and a rock possibly used to break into homes.
In January 2017, police arrested Shanell and two other Seattle men for committing 123 burglaries in Bellevue, Seattle, Kirkland, Mercer Island, and other Eastside communities. When Shanell was arrested, he was found wearing Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez' $35,000 watch, engraved with the phrase "King Felix." Hernandez' 2015 MLB All-Star ring was also stolen during the burglary spree.

After his arrest in the Rock Smash case, Shanell pleaded guilty to a single count of second-degree possession of stolen property, according to court records. He was sentenced to 17 months in prison, but was given credit for serving nearly a year in the King County Jail before his guilty plea. That means he only ended up serving about five months in state prison. Shanell has four previous convictions for residential burglary — one each in 2010 and 2012, and two from 2011.
Shanell is being held in the King County Jail on $100,000 bail on a charge of residential burglary.
