Damaging Windstorm Forecast For Puget Sound Tonight

The region will be under a wind advisory overnight Friday with gusts up to 50 MPH expected.

BELLEVUE, WA - Forecasters are predicting a potentially damaging wind event to hit the region overnight into Friday morning, which may impact the Friday morning commute.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the entire region. The advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday. The forecast calls for sustained winds of 35 MPH, with gusts up to 40 or 50 MPH.

Winds will begin to pick up Thursday evening, but will peak overnight Friday and into the morning commute. The wind advisory affects the entire Puget Sound interior, from Bellingham to Olympia to Aberdeen.

Local governments are warning residents to be prepared for possible power outages and downed tree limbs. Along with the wind, the forecast calls for sustained rain throughout the evening.
