The Eastside Symphony and its music director, Alexei Girsh will present a spring concert on Saturday, March 17, at 7:30 in the Redmond Performing Arts Center, 17272 NE 104th St. Redmond, WA 98052. They will be featuring Copland's famous “Appalachian Spring” and four of Gustaf Holst's “Planets”, the performance also includes two recent works by modern composers Catherine McMichael and Jeffrey Taylor, "Three Philosophies" and "In Memoriam 9/11." In "Three Philosophies" soloist Lisa Hedley will perform on three different sizes of flute, one of them the rarely-seen contrabass flute taller than most performers.
