Combining rich harmonies and masterful guitar work with skillful songwriting, The Halyards put their own special signature on Americana-Roots music. Their songs speak of the usual life subjects of life, love and loss yet their take is uniquely their own, injecting both humor and sweet insight into the stories they tell.
The band is comprised of some of the top (and most experienced) musical talent in the Northwest. Childhood friends Carl Funk and Larry Mason have shared a long musical history. For the past decade, they have performed around the Northwest with their band Funk Mason. They joined forces with Grammy-award winning musician Eric Tingstad and the result was The Halyards. The band’s present personnel are a collective tour-de-force featuring:
Carl Funk- vocals, guitar and mandolin
Larry Mason-vocals and acoustic guitar
Eric Tingstad-electric guitars
Garey Shelton-bass
Chris Middaugh-pedal steel guitar
Ben Smith-drums and percussion
