Expect W. Lake Sammamish Traffic Delays Next Week

From King County:Crews working for King County’s Lake Hills and NW Lake Sammamish Sewer Upgrade Project are continuing fieldwork activities to support final design. Starting March 20, crews will dig twelve potholes along West Lake Sammamish Parkway and throughout the project area to locate existing utilities.

Locations and schedule:
Crews will work on the shoulder of West Lake Sammamish Parkway and the following residential streets:

  • 172nd Avenue N.E.
  • N.E. 34th Street & 179th Avenue N.E.
  • 180th Avenue N.E.
  • 177th Avenue N.E.
  • N.E. 39th Court

Crews will generally move from north to south.

Additional potholing work on the Sammamish River Trail is planned to begin in late March. We will send another notice when this work is scheduled. We expect all potholing work to be complete in early April.

What to expect:

  • Work hours 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, weekdays only
  • Single lane closures at each pothole location during work hours
  • Flaggers, signs and cones will be in place to safely direct you around the work zone and maintain two directions of traffic
  • Drivers can expect increased congestion; our goal is to limit delays to no longer than five minutes
  • Parking restrictions on N.E. 34th Street, 179th Avenue N.E. and 177th Avenue N.E. during work hours
  • Crews will spend up to one day at each pothole location
  • A vacuum truck will be used to dig a small hole at each sampling location. Increased noise when the vacuum truck is in use
  • Each location will be restored with grass, pavement or gravel after work is complete

Please watch for equipment and signs in the area, travel slowly to stay safe and follow direction from flaggers.
