Gunshot Forces Evacuation Of Bellevue Condo Complex
A woman fired a single shot inside a downtown-area condo, setting off a chain reaction involving a fire sprinkler.
BELLEVUE, WA — A single gunshot fired by accident inside a Bellevue condo set off a chain reaction, eventually leading to the evacuation of the entire building.
The incident happened near 11:30 p.m. on April 6 at a condo building along 108th Avenue Northeast downtown. A woman living there fired a single shot into the ceiling. The bullet didn't hit any people, but it did hit a sprinkler line inside the ceiling.
Not only did that cause water to come pouring out of the ceiling, but it also set off the entire building's fire alarm. Firefighters responded and were able to get the situation under control in about 30 minutes, according to Bellevue police.
