I-405 Closures In Bellevue Scheduled This Week

The closures were originally scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, but Sound Transit has rescheduled the closures for mid-week.

BELLEVUE, WA - Construction crews working on the Eastlink light rail project will close I-405 overnight in downtown Bellevue this week. The closures were originally scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, but Sound Transit has rescheduled the closures for Wednesday and Thursday.

On the first night, crews will close southbound lanes between SR 520 and Northeast 4th Street. Northbound I-405 will close Thursday night between Main and Northeast 8th streets. The closures are weather dependent, and so could be rescheduled again.

The lanes will be closed between about midnight and 4 a.m. each night.

Overnight drivers through downtown Bellevue should prepare for impacts on two nights. Closures are now scheduled for Dec. 20-21. The work is in preparation for construction of the elevated light rail structure across I-405. Southbound I-405 in Bellevue will close late Wednesday, Dec. 20; northbound lanes will close late Thursday, Dec. 21. Sound Transit's contractor will restripe I-405 to establish temporary work zones along the highway.

136th Place Northeast in Bellevue is also closed to through-traffic until Friday related to Eastlink construction work.
