I-405 Will Close In Bellevue Starting Monday

Sound Transit crews will shut down parts of I-405 in downtown Bellevue this week for re-striping related to the light rail project.

BELLEVUE, WA - A series of I-405 closures in downtown Bellevue will begin as early as Monday night, according to Sound Transit. The closures will happen during overnight hours so construction crews can re-stripe northbound, southbound, and HOV lanes.

Here's what to expect each day, according to Sound Transit:

Monday - As early as Monday, Dec. 11th crews will survey I-405 northbound and southbound in preparation for restriping the roadway. The HOV/Express Toll lanes will be closed starting near the 6th Street off ramp on both northbound (8 p.m. – 4 a.m.) and southbound (10 p.m. – 4 a.m.) I-405. The off ramp exit to NE 6th Street will remain open.

Tuesday - Beginning as early as Tuesday, Dec. 12th crews will fully close southbound I-405 from 11:59 p.m. – 4 a.m. to paint new lines on the roadway. Tuesday’s work is contingent on dry weather conditions. Starting at NE 4th Street (Exit 13B), traffic will be detoured onto the offramp and around the closed portion of I-405 south. The off ramp exit to NE 6th Street will be closed while the work is occurring.

Wedesday - Beginning as early as Wednesday, Dec. 13th crews will fully close nothbound I-405 from 11:59 p.m. – 4 a.m. to paint new lines on the roadway. Wednesday’s work is also contingent on dry weather conditions. Starting at NE 4th Street (Exit 13B), traffic will be detoured onto the offramp and around the closed portion of I-405 north. The off ramp exit to NE 6th Street will be closed while the work is occuring. Vehicles seeking to access SR 520 during the full northbound closure will need to use the NE 4th Street off ramp (Exit 13A). SR 520 detour signs will be in place directing drivers accordingly.
