I-90 Closing Tonight For Light Rail Crane Moving

Sound Transit contractors are moving a large crane. Multiple on-ramps and I-90 will be closed during the move.

BELLEVUE, WA — Eastside drivers, get ready for a full closure of the westbound lanes of I-90 beginning Monday night.

Contractors working on Sound Transit's light rail project will need to move a large crane to continue building the bridge that flies over I-90 toward downtown Bellevue. The contractors will begin disassembling the crane beginning around 8 p.m., and the work should be done by 5 a.m. Tuesday. An additional overnight closure Tuesday might be necessary if they don't finish, however.

All lanes of westbound I-90 will be closed between I-405 and Bellevue Way Southeast. Here where the closures will happen and what exits will be affected:

  • I-405 south to I-90 west general purpose ramp
  • I-405 north to I-90 west HOV ramp
  • Richards Road and SE 32nd to westbound I-90
  • 142nd Place SE to westbound I-90 HOV Ramp
  • Ramps from Bellevue Way Southeast to I-90 will remain open
