I-90 Lane Closures Hit Bellevue This Weekend

This weekend, it's Bellevue's turn. Westbound I-90 traffic will be routed onto the express lanes all weekend.

BELLEVUE, WA - This weekend, it's Bellevue's turn. Westbound travel on I-90 from Bellevue will be slow this weekend because traffic will be routed onto the express lanes at Bellevue Way. This is part of a series of I-90 closures so contractors can create HOV lanes along the highway in preparation for the closure of the express lanes on June 3. The westbound lanes will close Friday night at 11 p.m. and will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday at the latest.

I-90 will drop down to two lanes in the area of Bellevue Way and the I-405 interchange. One lane will be for traffic to Mercer Island, the other will be for traffic heading to Seattle.

The Washington state Department of Transportation plans to open HOV lanes in both directions between Bellevue and Seattle by June 3. After that, the express lanes will close so that construction on the East Link light rail project can begin.
