Lifeguard Shortage Leaves Bellevue Beaches Un-Guarded

But Bellevue is offering a hiring bonus to potential lifeguards to staff key city beaches.

BELLEVUE, WA — Three popular Bellevue beaches don't have lifeguards right now due to a regional staffing shortage, but officials hope some quick cash might attract new staff.

As of Wednesday, Chism, Clyde, and Chesterfield beaches along Lake Washington had no lifeguards on watch. Residents can still use the beaches to swim, but they do so at their own risk, the city said.

Bellevue will offer $250 bonuses to lifeguards, plus free training and certification. If you're interested, contact recreation supervisor Patrick Simmons at (425) 452-4444 or through the city website.
