Major Street Closure In Downtown Bellevue Begins Soon

Due to Sound Transit construction, 110th Avenue in front of City Hall will be closed for at least nine months.

BELLEVUE, WA - Drivers in the downtown area will notice a major street closure beginning as early as next week. Due to Sound Transit construction, 110th Avenue Northeast will be closed in front of City Hall between mid-block and Northeast 6th Street.

Sound Transit is building the north portal for the East Link light rail line in that location. When the line opens, trains will enter and exit the tunnel downtown before heading east across I-405 to Redmond. (The southern portal of the tunnel is near the intersection of Main and 112th Avenue Northeast.)

This will be the first of three closures scheduled during construction. After about nine months, construction crews will open a lane in each direction along 110th. But those lanes will only remain open until about the end of 2018. From winter 2018 to spring 2019, Sound Transit will again close all lanes to finish up construction and replace utilities.
