Metro To Give Free, On-Demand Rides To Eastgate Park-And-Ride

King County is rolling out a new service to get drivers to park-and-ride lots. Bellevue's Eastgate will get the service first.

BELLEVUE, WA - King County Metro will roll out a new service next week that will allow commuters to use an app to hail on-demand rides to the Eastgate Park-And-Ride facility.

The service will be run by Chariot, a private transit company owned by Ford. Commuters who download the Ride2 Park & Ride app will get picked up in a Chariot van. The service will be on-demand, like Uber or Lyft, and will be available weekdays beginning Oct. 23 between 6 and 10 a.m. and 4 and 8 p.m.

The Eastgate roll-out is part of a year-long pilot program Metro is conducting. Other park-and-rides will get the service in coming months, according to Metro. Rides will be free to start off.
