Molly Moon Is Bringing Her Ice Cream To Bellevue

Redmond got the first Eastside Molly Moon's, but the loved Seattle-based creamery has a special treat for Bellevue.

BELLEVUE, WA — It's going to be an especially sweet summer in Bellevue.

The venerable Seattle ice-creamery Molly Moon's announced Wednesday that it will open its second Eastside location in downtown Bellevue early this summer. The walk-up store will be located near the Downtown Park.

"I’ve contemplated opening a shop near the park for many years, and now it’s finally happening. I can’t wait to see families and downtown Bellevue residents with hanging at the park or strolling the neighborhood with their cones and sundaes!" founder Molly Moon Nietzel said in a press release.

Nietzel founded the chain in 2008 in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood. The first Eastside shop in downtown Redmond opened in 2016. The Bellevue shop will be the eighth in the region.

In addition to sweets, the shop will bring about a dozen good-paying jobs to downtown Bellevue. Molly Moon's pay at $18 per hour for scoopers, which is well above the state (and Seattle) minimum. Employees also get benefits like discount ORCA cards, paid family leave, vacation time — and free ice cream.
