NASA Video Shows When Smoke Leaves Puget Sound

When will the wildfire smoke leave Puget Sound? This NASA video shows how it will happen.

BELLEVUE, WA - When will all this wildfire smoke leave Puget Sound? The good news: it will leave eventually. The bad news: it probably won't be until after weekend. According to a forecast released Wednesday by NASA, the smoke will completely clear in about 95 hours.

In the mean time, shifting wind patterns will begin blowing the smoke out of the area over the next few days. That means it might be a little smokey this weekend, but not as bad as Wednesday. You can watch the NASA model here:

Almost the entire state is under an air quality warning until Friday, according to the National Weather Service. The worst of the smoke is expected to last at least until Friday morning.

"Smoke from wildfires in British Columbia will continue to drift across western Washington through Friday morning. The interior, especially the Puget Sound Region northward, will be the most impacted by the smoke. Expect the air quality to vary between good and unhealthy, depending on the wind direction and time of day," according to the National Weather Service.
