New Bellevue Police K9 Is a First For Deparment
Bellevue has hired a new breed to take the place of a retiring K9.

BELLEVUE, WA - What's 2-years-old, Dutch, and covered in fur?
Týr (pronounced "teer"), the newest Bellevue Police K9.
The department selected Týr, a Belgian malinois, out of 14 other possible dogs due to his energy, sociability, and strong scenting ability. This is the first time in the department's 40-year history that they've hired a Belgian malinois.

But Týr won't start work just yet. He still has about 400 hours of training to go through before he comes on full-time. The department named Týr after the Norse god of law.
Earlier this month, K9 Roc retired after serving on the Bellevue force for seven years.
