New Eastside Nordstrom Rack Opens Thursday

BELLEVUE, WA - Washington's eighth Nordstrom Rack will open Thursday morning at Bellevue's Lincoln Square. The 43,000 square-foot store opens at 9 a.m. with a celebration including food, music, and prizes like $100 gift cards and a $1,000 shopping spree.

Nordstrom Rack has grown into Nordstrom's upscale-discount brand in recent years, but the store first opened in downtown Seattle in the 1970s. The first Rack was in the basement of the downtown Seattle flagship store (Nordstrom Rack now has its own space now in the adjacent Westlake Center mall).

The Bellevue location is the 221st store in the chain, and Nordstrom plans to expand the brand into Canada in 2018.

Bellevue developer Kemper Freeman sought to expand his downtown Bellevue Collection recently, including adding a 1.5 million square-foot mixed-use development just south of the 42-story Lincoln Square development. That development will also include a W Bellevue hotel.

The Nordstrom Rack grand opening begins at 8 a.m. before the doors open with a "Rally at the Rack."
