To learn, and to grow their brains from birth to age 5, children need novelty (lots of new experiences) and repetition (the chance to explore one thing till they master it). They need hands-on, in-person experiences where sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch are all active. They need a balance between direct instruction, guided play, unstructured free play and quiet time to integrate their learning. Join Janelle Durham, MSW, Parent Educator for Bellevue College and author of www.gooddayswithkids.com to discuss how children learn.
Free. Pre-registration required. Childcare available for a suggested donation of $5/child.
