Street Sweeper Backs Over Bellevue Pedestrian
The crash happened Monday morning northeast of the downtown area.

BELLEVUE, WA - A street sweeper hit and killed a pedestrian Monday morning along Northeast 12th Street near downtown Bellevue. The incident happened near the intersection of 12oth Avenue Northeast.
Around 11:15 a.m., Bellevue fire reported that firefighters were working to extricate a person found underneath the street sweeper. Police closed 120th Avenue due to an investigation into the collision. The collision happened at approximately 10:48 a.m.
The victim was a 44-year-old man from Bellevue. The driver of the street sweeper was not impaired, according to police.

"Early information indicates that the sweeper truck, which was being operated by a private contractor and was involved in construction activity at an apartment complex on the east side of the roadway, was backing up in a closed lane of 120th Avenue when the collision occurred. The driver of the sweeper truck is cooperating with the investigation, and no impairment is suspected on the part of the truck driver," department officials wrote in a blog post Monday.
