REI May Offer Boat Rental At Enatai, Meydenbauer Parks

The City Council will likely approve a contract with REI to offer paddle boats after a previous vendor bowed out.

BELLEVUE, WA — Two Bellevue parks will likely get paddle boat rentals operated by REI. The City Council is set to approve the agreement with the Kent-based retailer on Monday.

Under the agreement, REI will offer different types of boats for rent at Enatai Beach and the new Meydenbauer Beach Park. The city could net up to $21,000 per year from the agreement, based on past sales figures.

The company Cascade Canoe and Kayak rented boats at Enatai Beach for over 20 years, but in 2018 the owners notified city officials it would stop that service. Meydenbauer Beach Park just opened on March 16, and so boat rental will be an entirely new service there.
