Roof Collapses At Bellevue Strip Mall

Buildings across the region are under extra stress to recent heavy snow and rain.

BELLEVUE, WA - The roof of a strip mall partially collapsed under the weight of recent snow and rain in Bellevue on Tuesday afternoon. No injuries were reported, however.

The collapse happened at a building along the 1900 block of 132nd Avenue Northeast, just south of Northrup Way. According to fire department photos, it appeared that a wooden support beam inside the Rodda paint supply store had split in half. The city was investigating the structural integrity of the rest of the building.

The building is home to several businesses, including the Mini Mountain Indoor Ski Center, and Eastside Transmission. Firefighters made it to the scene quickly - the strip mall is located right next to Bellevue fire station No. 6.
